Teen Fall Volunteer Opportunities
Score community service hours while having a blast! We have some fantastic opportunities to fit your interests and schedule. These volunteer programs are for TEENS ages 14 - 18 only.
- Crafting for a Cause: Hone your crafting and making skills while making handmade items for local charities -- all from the comfort of home! Each month features a new project with a different organization. More details here.
- Teen Event Crew: Score volunteer hours while spreading the joy at some amazing community event. Join our crew to help us with a variety of special fall events at the library. Sign up for one or all of them. Shifts are 3 hours. More details here.
- Painting Paws - OCT 5 | 6:30 - 7:30 PM : Paint a portrait of an animal in need of adoption from the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth. Register here.

Ignite Your Summer Photography Contest (grades 8 - 12)
Weekly JULY 6 - AUG 24
Each week, teen photographers submit a photo (or photos) by following that week's theme. Enter to win a weekly prize pack. All submitted photos are entered into the end-of-summer grand prize draw. Follow SPL’s teen Instagram @SPL.Ignite to compete.
Going on a Duck Hunt (all ages)
SEPT 21 - 27 | Main Floor
Seek out the tiny ducks hidden on the main floor of SPL and bring the ones you find to the reference desk for ballots in our prize draw. Three prize age categories.
Tween Art Attack (grades 4 - 7)
SEPT 24, OCT 29, NOV 26 | 6:30 - 7:30 PM | Auditorium
Each month is a different creation during this arts & crafts workshop. Limit of only 20 spots. We're making Alcohol Ink Bookmarks (Sept), Magical Crystal Balls (Oct), Marbled Globe Tea Lights (Nov). Registration required.
Pitch Perfect Interactive PJ Party (movie rated PG-13)
OCT 2 | 6:30 - 9:00 PM | Auditorium
We're watching the film Pitch Perfect WHILE interacting with the screen and each other. Come live this ultimate slumber party experience in your comfy pjs or acapella gear where we will have snacks, drinks, and games. There is comfort in the cringe!
Zombie Survival Night: Dead End (grades 8 - 12)
OCT 16 | 6:30 - 8:00 PM | Entire Library
In teams of five, complete challenges and solve clues while avoiding the ravenous zombies that are chasing you in the dark library. Prizes. Free pizza. No registration required. Limit of 45 players so arrive early.
Boo Bash (all ages -- but ages 7+ with scare factor)
OCT 21 | 6:30 - 8:00 PM | Entire Library
Games, crafts, ghost stories around a glowing (fake!) campfire. And we'll end the night with the traditional Zombie Walk outside, as we take over Stratford like a pretend zombie horde!
Glow-in-the-Dark Karaoke at SDSS (ages 7+)
NOV 13 | 6:30 - 7:30 PM | Stratford Secondary School Drama Room
Let's sparkle up the High School DRAMA ROOM with neon lights, coloured LEDs, and glow sticks while we sing along to your favourite tunes. Chips, pop, and sparkling juice included. Bring your song requests!
Tween Dinosaur Disaster (grades 4 - 7)
NOV 27 | 6:30 - 7:45 PM | Entire Library
In teams of five, race through the dark library to complete challenges and survival puzzles while dinosaurs chase you and try to pull your flag-tag flags. Prizes. Snacks. No registration required. Limit of 35 players so arrive early.
Trivia Night: Disney Movies (ages 9+ -- adult-only teams welcome)
DEC 10 | 6:30 - 7:30 PM | Auditorium
Show off your knowledge of Disney and Pixar movies -- both classic and recent! Popcorn, pop, and sparkling juice included to fuel your brain. Prizes for the winning team. Teams of minimum 2 players to maximum 5 players. Registration required.

Turn reading into a gift with our book subscription kits for teens. Sign up each month for three books in the genre of your choice, goodies (candy, buttons, stickers), a craft or activity. Return the books but keep the goodies. Registration required.
Tween Lit Kits (Grades 4 - 7)

Pinterested (Grades 8 - 12)
Pick up kits: SEPT 28 (Resin Earrings or Keychain), OCT 26 (Potion Bottles), NOV 30 (Marbled Candles)
Pick up your kit and craft up your cool creation. Submit a photo to be entered for a prize draw. Registration required.
Teen Break-In Bags (Grades 8 - 12)
Pick up bags: OCT 7 (Classic Horror), NOV 4 (The Hunger Games), DEC 2 (Marvel Avengers)
An escape room without the room -- just for TEENS! Solve the themed puzzles to unlock the bag of goodies each month. Keep all the goodies but return the lock and bag! Registration required.
Movie Night in a Bag
Pick up kits: NOV 5, NOV 26, DEC 17
Family Movie Night -- no assembly required! Pick out a movie genre and specific ratings and we'll create a kit for you with three DVDs, a card-based game, and microwave popcorn. Return the movies after three weeks but keep everything else. (One kit per family.) Registration required.
OTHER EVENTS - ALL AGES
Chess Knight at SPL (All Ages - on-going)
MONDAYS | 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Drop-in and gather on the main floor of the library, where all ages come together to enjoy a chill night of playing chess and drinking tea. BYOBoard if you have one -- if you don't, come anyway. (Youth under 12 must be accompanied by adult.)
