Stratford Public Library

Hey teens in grades 8 - 12 -- Does your pet have star power and a desire to promote awesome programs and services at the library?

Nominate them for the Teen Library Petfluencer 2026! Create an application for your pet by giving them a motto or catchphrase, telling us what makes them special, and of course sharing their adorableness in a photo or two. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS JANUARY 16TH.

Then from January 19th through February 8th, the community of Stratford will vote on which pet they think will be best.

The winning pet (and teen human) will each receive prize packs. And all finalist pets and their teen human will receive Maker Bucks to use at the Library's Makerspace, with some other goodies.

Plus: the teen human will receive up to eight community service hours throughout 2026 for taking video or photos of the Petfluencer promoting teen library programs and services for spring, summer, and fall. This initiative also looks great on college/scholarship or social media job applications in your future!

RULES:

  1. The pet must be YOURS. Since the pet will need to have video/photos taken throughout 2026, they need to be your personal pet so that you have easy access to them.
  2. The winning pet/teen human must be willing to spend up to 2 hours at 4 separate times throughout 2026 to photograph or film the pet to promote teen library programs and services. (Teen will be awarded 8 community service hours for your work). We will work with you to arrange times when you can submit the videos/photos.
  3. Those in Grade 8 can participate but cannot earn volunteer hours until they are in Grade 9 in the fall.
  4. The future filming/photography to promote library programs and services will be somewhere your pet is comfortable. You do NOT have to bring them to the library for promotion if they are not that kind of pet.
  5. All household pets who could be used to promote programs or services are allowed (dogs, cats, rabbits, bearded dragons, birds). Although we can't see how a fish or farm animal could be used, we're open to your creativity.
  6. All finalists will receive a "Vote for Me" image to use, but you are absolutely welcome and ENCOURAGED to make your own promotional videos/photos/flyers to get your pet more votes.

Submissions open Jan 5 until Jan 16th!
