Literacy at the Table

Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family -- and this year's theme is "Make mealtime family learning time". 

SPL is hosting an exciting community event to celebrate Family Literacy Day 2026. 

Join us for "Literacy at the Table", a warm and welcoming event designed for families and participants of all ages. Explore hands-on, interactive stations shared by local partners -- each offering playful activities, conversation starters and ideas for learning together in everyday moments. 

From creative challenges to food-themed fun, families can discover simple, joyful ways to build literacy skills at home. Come connect with neighbours, try something new, and enjoy an evening filled with curiosity, collaboration and community spirit.
