Duck Hunt (BONUS ALL AGES EVENT)

Seek out the tiny ducks hidden on the main floor of the Library and bring the ones you find to the reference desk for ballots in our prize draw. Bonus: Find secret ducks hidden in five specific downtown businesses for extra ballots and scan the QR code. Virtual L.M. Montgomery Presentation

"A bit of a dip into some interesting books": L.M. Montgomery, Ontario Reader. Montgomery is, of course, best known as the creator of beloved books (such as Anne of Green Gables), but she was also a self-professed "book drunkard," who read dozens of books each year. Discover her favourites. Join Montgomery scholar, Emily Woster, to learn more about Montgomery as a reader in early 20th century Ontario.

Make the Holidays: Crafting with Books

Join us for some festive upcycling as we cut, fold, glue, colour and more, using old book pages! Create sustainable decor, gift wrap, and other fun projects as we give old books new life for the holidays.

Fall Into Reading Challenge 

October 3 to November 30

No registration is required for this reading challenge -- simply pick up your Fall Bookmark at the main floor desk. Read library books (yes, audiobooks and eBooks count) from FOUR of the eight categories listed (book suggestions available here), and return it to be entered into a draw for a prize!

2025 Book Lovers Reading Challenge

January 1 to December 31, 2025

Tackle the challenge of reading throughout the year, by following along the unique monthly challenges. Our talented team have designed a beautifully curated "Inspiration Reading List" to match each month's category.

Discuss whatever it is you've been reading - a book, a magazine, a blog, or even a podcast! New members are welcome! Registration is required due to space constraints.

Chess Knight at SPL (All Ages)

Mondays | 6:30 - 8:30 PM

Drop-in and gather on the main floor of the library, where all ages come together to enjoy a chill night of playing chess and drinking tea. BYOBoard if you have one -- if you don't, come anyway.
