Tours and Class Visits

Need more library in your life? It's easy to book a visit here at the library or wherever you are.

The Stratford Public Library offers a variety of library visit options for Stratford schools and community organizations. We can come to you in-person, or welcome you for an in library visit!

Fill out the Library Visit Request Form below and a staff member will contact you shortly to discuss your request in more detail. All requests will be approved based on staff availability – we may not be able to accommodate all requests.

Let Us Come to You

We will come to you! We currently offer the following types of visits to your school, daycare or community organization:  

 

Librarian Visits 

We offer outreach programs to schools and community organizations including storytimes, book talks, and themed presentations to support a focus on literacy and learning. Our Librarians are also happy to speak to parent groups or teachers on professional development days.  

Library Orientation 

During this visit, your group will learn about and explore the services, programs, and resources offered at Stratford Public Library.   

Digital Library Exploration

Learn how to access your library 24 hours a day! During this visit, your group will learn about and explore online resources to meet their educational and leisure needs. 

Pop-up MakerSpace (age 9 +)  

Explore the maker movement with a pop-up MakerSpace. Visits will include different maker concepts and a hands-on activity.   

     

      Class Visits in a Box  

      Class Visits in a Box are borrowable activity kits that include the option of an in-person or virtual librarian visit. The visit includes a quick pitch of library services, library card applications for students, and an activity kit of your choice.   

      Kits come with supplies, tools, and instructions. Examples include finger knitting, DIY bookbinding, Writer’s Block Antidote, Pixel Art Mosaic Project, paper quilling, and 3D geometric bubbles.   

      School or Local Community Event  

      Hosting a school or community event? Invite us to set up a booth, present, or organize an activity to help connect your attendees to all the amazing programs, resources, and services the Library has to offer!   

      We are pleased to attend a wide range of events, such as:  

      • Festivals and Fairs 
      • School Council Events  
      • Literacy Events  

      In-Library Experiences

      Want to come to us? We currently offer the following types of in-library experiences: 

      Library Orientation & Tour

      Bring your group or class to the Library to learn about the library, space, our amazing staff, and the resources we offer. Visitors can apply for library cards, borrow books, listen to book talks, and stories, develop research skills, and learn how to use the library’s catalogue. We are able to work with groups of all ages.   

      MakerSpace Orientation & Tour (age 9+)

      Is your group interested in learning about the maker movement? We can help introduce you and your group with a visit to the SPL Makerspace. Visits include an exploratory introduction to the MakerSpace with a focus on a maker concept available at SPL.

      To request a visit, please fill out the form below and a staff member will contact you shortly to discuss the visit in more detail. All requests for visits will be approved based on the availability of staff and resources—we may not be able to accommodate all requests in the desired time period. We ask for at least 2 weeks advance notice for each request.
