We depend on support from generous individuals like you to help keep our books, classes, and resources FREE for our community.

Your Donations Make A Difference

Each dollar you give helps us provide incredible programming, vital community services, and a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. You can support the library with a one-time gift or become a monthly donor — every contribution helps strengthen our community.

Recent examples of how your donations has made an impact on our community is the creation of the SPL MakerSpace and renovations of the library auditorium and children's floor. But every dollar counts -- and you make it all possible. Your donations help fund priority needs not covered by your tax dollars and make a difference for everyone coming through the doors of the library.

Here’s what your generosity can do:

$45 - Buys a popular new hardcover for readers to enjoy again and again
$50 - Provides nutritious snacks through our Snack Stop — that’s 15–20 meals for local families
$100 - Doubles that impact, offering 30–40 meals to those who need them most
$150 - Purchases a Book Club Kit so groups can gather, read, and connect through stories
$200 - Covers the cost of live entertainment at one of our Happy Hour in the Stacks events
$350 - Supplies crafts, games, and activities for 350 children at our beloved Boo Bash celebration

All donations of over $20 receive a charitable tax receipt.

Snack Stop

If you'd like to join the Library in reducing hunger in our community, consider making a financial contribution to the library's Snack Stop.

One-time or monthly donations can be made by cash, debit, or credit card at the library, or online via Canada Helps. Please specify in your message your wish to support the Snack Stop. Sponsor a Magazine

Give back to your Library by donating the cost of a subscription to your favourite print magazine. This will allow the library to continue offering this magazine for everyone's enjoyment! For anywhere from $30 to $190 your support will sponsor a magazine subscription for an entire year (depending on the magazine).

Your name or the name of your business will appear on the cover of subsequent issues of your chosen magazine acknowledging your generous contribution. Tax receipts are provided.

Host a Fundraiser

Interested in hosting a fundraiser in support of SPL?

Third-party fundraisers are events, campaigns, or activities organized by individuals, groups, businesses, or community organizations to raise funds in support of our mission. These fundraisers are planned and run independently, with proceeds donated to SPL. From bake sales and charity runs to workplace campaigns and community events, third-party fundraisers play an important role in helping us expand our impact.

We are grateful to everyone who chooses to support us by organizing a fundraiser. Your initiative helps raise awareness, engage the community, and generate essential funding that supports our programs and services. Legacy Giving

Supporting the Stratford Public Library through your will, insurance policy or investments helps ensure the tradition of exceptional library service is safeguarded for future generations. The Stratford Public Library has a distinguished history in the community that dates back more than 100 years. Leaving the library a legacy helps us maintain and build on that success. Volunteer

We invite you to share your time and talents with the Stratford Public Library in one or more of our rewarding volunteer opportunities. In 2019 library volunteers contributed almost 2,500 hours in a variety of in-library duties, outreach programs, and special event programs.

By contributing a few hours of your time, you, too, can support the Library’s commitment to providing excellent services to our community. In fact, on average, each of our volunteers contributes approximately 2 hours per week.
