What's Available in Emergency Shutdown?

Library hours: Monday-Thursday, 10am-8pm | Friday-Saturday, 10am-4pm

  • In-person library programs and events
  • Computer access by appointment
  • Study and Wifi seating by appointment
  • Printing, photocopying, and scanning by appointment
  • Extended Library visits
  • Meeting Room Rentals

Is it safe to borrow library materials?

The safety of our customers and our staff is our highest concern. We are taking precautions to ensure that the items on our shelves and any items returned to us are safe to be handled. All returned items are quarantined for the recommended period of 72 hours before being checked in and loaned to others. 

If you are feeling unwell or if any member of your household is sick or in isolation, we ask that you refrain from borrowing library materials.

Can I borrow items from other area Libraries?

Yes! You can borrow materials from our PCIN partner libraries by placing a hold online or calling us. 

Our InterLibrary Loan (ILLO) is also available to borrow material in other Ontario libraries. 

How do I return my library items?

The library book drop is now open and materials can be returned any time.  Library fines will not be charged on overdue materials until further notice. 

Why are items still on my library card?

Returned items are set aside and isolated for a period of 72 hours before they are checked in and removed from your account.  But don't worry! There are no late fees while the library is closed. 

How are you ensuring the safety of customers and staff?

With the delivery of curbside and additional in-person services, the health and safety of our staff and our customers is our top priority.

Here are the measures we are taking:

  • All SPL staff have Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and trained in their proper use
  • Physical distancing protocols are in place
  • Returned materials are quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours
  • Intensive cleaning of the library was done in advance including disinfecting of high touch surfaces
  • Regular cleaning and hand washing protocols are in place
